Go Beyond the Pose
Have you ever settled into Savasana at the end of a class and felt like something shifted?
Maybe the teacher wasn't only guiding your body. Somewhere between the movement, breath, stillness, and words, they gave you something to think about—something you carried with you after you rolled up your mat.
That is the art of Dharma.
Planting the Seeds of Yoga: The Art of Dharma is a 30-hour exploration of how yoga philosophy, intention, storytelling, reflection, Sanskrit, and personal connection can bring greater meaning to both our practice and our teaching.
Over five Thursday evenings together, we'll explore where yoga philosophy comes from, what teachings like dharma and the kleshas can mean beyond the mat, and how ancient yogic ideas can still invite meaningful inquiry into the way we live today.
And this isn't going to be five weeks of sitting in front of Zoom listening to a lecture.
We'll talk. We'll question. We'll journal. We'll explore philosophy together. We'll work in small groups. We'll practice. And we'll experiment with how a single idea can be planted at the beginning of a yoga class and thoughtfully woven through movement, breath, language, silence, and Savasana.
The goal isn't to give you someone else's script.
It's to help you understand the philosophy deeply enough that you can find your own authentic way of sharing it.
Who Is This For?
This module is designed for 200-hour yoga teachers continuing toward their 300-hour certification, yoga teachers looking for continuing education, and curious yogis who simply want to understand more about the philosophy underneath the physical practice.
You don't have to be a yoga teacher to join us.
Teachers will leave with practical tools for bringing philosophy into their classes in a way that feels natural rather than forced. Non-teachers will leave with a richer understanding of yoga and new ways to explore these teachings in their own lives and personal practice.
What We'll Explore
We'll explore the roots and purpose of yoga philosophy; Dharma and living with intention; the kleshas and the patterns that shape our experience; Sanskrit and the importance of context and respectful attribution; storytelling and personal experience; developing meaningful class themes; weaving philosophy through asana without over-talking or forcing a message; journaling and self-inquiry; and using movement, breath, meditation, and Savasana to create a cohesive experience.
The first three weeks are about tilling the soil—learning, questioning, experiencing, and living with the philosophy.
During weeks four and five, we begin to plant and grow—taking what we've learned and discovering how to translate it into practice and, for teachers, into meaningful classes.
What You'll Create
Teachers will leave the training with a well-researched teaching seed, a thoughtfully developed themed yoga class, and a multi-class Dharma series they can continue developing and teaching in their own authentic voice.
Non-teachers can adapt the same work into personal reflection and practice, creating a deeper relationship with the philosophy and the why behind the what of yoga.
